Hi, My Name is Zaira Pires.

My name is Zaira Pires (Zy-ruh Pier-ez) and I am a fiber artist and designer who works with mixed media—primarily yarn— to turn everyday objects into playful, tactile experiences. My work explores the intersection of functionality and craft, celebrating the hands-on nature of making. I take an intuitive approach to the creative process, embracing curiosity, and allowing materials to guide my exploration. Color plays a vital role in my practice as I am drawn toward hues

that spark joy, and infuse liveliness into my work.

There is a unique beauty in reimagining traditional craft, pushing its boundaries to transition into something modern and fresh. I find excitement in taking classic techniques, and giving them new life through unexpected forms and applications. Through my work, I seek to invite viewers to engage with craft in a fresh, playful way while encouraging a sense of wonder in everyday interactions.
